Resilience and Accountability

Taking Control of Your Destiny

Have you ever found yourself crossing your fingers and hoping for the best, only to feel disappointed when things don't magically fall into place? Waiting around and wishing for your dreams to come true isn't a strategy – it's misguided.

You may have heard the saying, "The best things come to those who wait." But let me tell you, that couldn't be further from the truth. If you want something – I mean really want it – the only person who can make it happen is you. It's time to stop waiting for opportunities to come knocking and start knocking on doors yourself.

Taking control of your destiny can feel daunting but sometimes all that is needed are a few small steps in the right direction, to get you on the long road to success. When things feel impossible, it's often because the challenge is too big. Break it down into smaller more manageable tasks.... my mum would say, “Every little mickle makes a muckle”, in other words, all the little things add up to create a much bigger picture, like a jigsaw puzzle.

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve and break it down into specific, actionable goals. Clarity is key to focusing your efforts and building momentum. In other words, find your WHY! What do you actually want? Don’t be afraid to think big. Nothing is out of reach...

  2. Create a Plan: Once you have your goals in mind, create a step-by-step plan to achieve them. Outline the tasks, deadlines, and resources needed to stay on track. If you are time poor, make sure that this plan is sympathetic to the rest of your life. If your plan is unrealistic, you are less likely to action it. If you only have time to take small steps, then it just might take a little longer to get there but remember consistency is key.... don’t be put off by time, it goes by quicker than you think or expect.

  3. Take Small Steps: Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks. Focus on taking consistent, incremental steps forward rather than getting overwhelmed by the big picture.

  4. Challenge Negative Thoughts: Identify and challenge any negative thoughts or self-doubt that may arise. Practice self-compassion and remind yourself of your strengths and past successes. If need be, make a list everyday of all the thinks you are proud of that happened that day. If you don’t have anything.... change the narrative. Make things happen.

  5. Seek Support: Surround yourself with positive influences and seek support from friends, family, or mentors who believe in you and your goals. Their encouragement can help boost your confidence and motivation. Don’t let negative Nellies suck out your soul. If you know that there is someone in your life that exhausts you mentally, then just step back from them for a while. It’s your right, you are your own person.

  6. Practice Self-Care: Take care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Make time for activities that recharge you, such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, or spending time in nature.

  7. Celebrate Progress: Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Acknowledge your progress and use it as motivation to keep moving forward.

  8. Stay Flexible: Be open to adjusting your plans and strategies as needed. Life is unpredictable, and being flexible allows you to adapt to challenges and setbacks along the way.

  9. Visualise Success: Use visualisation techniques to imagine yourself achieving your goals. Visualising success can help reinforce positive thinking and build confidence in your abilities.

  10. Take Action: Ultimately, the most important step is to take action. Put your plans into motion and take proactive steps toward your goals. Remember, progress is made by taking consistent action, even when faced with doubts or challenges.

And here's the BIG SECRET - Newsflash...you can do more than one thing at once! There are NO RULES!! So if you have a full-time job and have a dream to do something else... start a sideline or a passion project. Who knows where it will lead.... and don't tell me you don't have time... I don't believe you. We can always make time for the things we want to do. It's a question of priorities. Remember - Life is a choice.

Instead of passively hoping for the best, take proactive steps toward your goals. Set clear intentions, make a plan, and take consistent action to bring your dreams to life. Whether it's pursuing a passion project, starting a new business, applying for a new job, making sure your child gets into the school you want them to, travelling the world or chasing a big, audacious goal – the power is in your hands.

Take the power and trust that you are, where you should be, right now.... but if change needs to happen... make it happen - no one else can do it for you.

I believe in you!

Much Love
